tears like the sea flow through me

This is a blog of great happiness. Great sadness, and beautiful and all sweet tears. Love is a beautiful thing, but is that not where the root of hurt comes from. You love someone, they die and you fall into a feeling of loneliness and hate. These mixed emotions that are all caused by first loving and then losing.

What about the feelings of betrayel, you trust someone and care for them and then they hurt you by not saying hi to you in the halls or they say something that hurt your feelings. Loving, caring, understanding, patience, all these good things do they not all cause hurt? I may be trying to exaggerate my point. These things are good. They hurt though. The good things hurt. Isn't that weird?

Though they hurt, aren't they worth it? And more importantly are they really as bad as we make them out to be? I mean what is life without love? Not much. What is love without hurt? Non-existant. Interesting eh? The other thing. Is death bad? I mean it hurts, but is it bad? It says in Ecclesiastes 7.

It says: A good name is better than a fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth. It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart. Sorrow is better than laughter, because a sad face is good for the heart. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of pleasure. It is better to heed a wise man's rebuke than to listen to the song of fools. Like the crackling of thorns under the pot, so is the laughter of fools. This too is meaningless. Exortation turns a wise man into a fool, and a bribe corrupts the heart. The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride. Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools. Do not say, "Why were the old days better than these?" For it is not wise to ask such questions. Wisdom, like an inheritance, is a good thing and benefits those who see the sun. Wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter, but the advantage of knowledge is this: that wisdom preserves the life of its possesor. Consider what God has done: Who can straighten what he has made crooked? When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, a man cannot discover anything about his future. In this meaningless life of mine I have seen both of these: a righteous man perishing in his righteousness, and a wicked man living long in his wickedness. Do not be overrighteous, neither be overwise why destroy yourself? Do not be overwicked, and do not be a fool why die before your time? It is good to grasp the one and not let go of the other. The man who fears God will avoid all extremes. Wisdom makes one wise man more powerful than ten rulers in a city. There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins. Do not pay attention to every word people say, or you may hear your servant cursing you for you know in your heart that many times you yourself have cursed others. All this I tested by wisdom and I said, "I am determined to be wise" but this was beyond me. Whatever wisdom may be, it is far off and most profound who can discover it? So I turned my mind to understand, to investigate and to search out wisdom and the scheme of things and to understand the stupidity of wickedness and the madness of folly. I find more bitter than death the woman who is a snare, whose heart is a trap and whose hands are chains. The man who pleases God will escape her, but the sinner she will ensnare. "Look," says the Teacher, "this is what I have discovered: "Adding one thing to another to discover the scheme of things while I was still searching but not finding I found one upright man among a thousand, but not one upright woman among them all. This only have I found: God made mankind upright, but men have gone in search of many schemes." Who is like the wise man? Who knows the explanation of things? Wisdom brightens a man's face and changes its hard appearance.

There is so much to get from this and as of now this is a very important piece of scripture for me. It has so much to chew on. The big idea that I had for this post inspecific was death. Death is good. It is better than the day of birth. We are meant to live to die. That is what I have to say, and though it may bring very little comfort. That is the honest truth. I would just like to say that all who knew Adam Maurice Poirier he is where he was meant to be. He lived to die. He had to die, it was his destiny. There is so much for him, forever is waiting for him and its awaiting you as well.

I can't accept all death as good. I mean sure we live to die... but... death is.. it's too big. I dunno. This is something I've struggled with and thought about for too long. Excellent post though. I love that Bible Reference, Definatly going to read that one again tonight, and again tomorow...

Death is a hard topic to swallow, I agree gurly239. Some situations like murder, dying young, car accidents, etc don't look like good at all. But, I rest in the truth that we won't die before it is our time to go according to God's plan. He is sovereign, even when it doesn't look like it makes sense.

When we look at life, and specifically death in this case, with our physical/earthly eyes we see so much pain or false joy or whatever and it doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense. But, hen we look at life through God's perspective, knowing that He is sovereign and good in all that He does everything seems to make a lot more sense!
I've realized that my earthly perspective does little more than confuse me and make me anxious. But when I seek God's face in all situations I find His peace, hope and joy. I need God. That's pretty much all I can summarize from this comment.

That and the fact that I miss Adam. Life-long friends are hard to lose.
